Dakar 2025: stage 6, Lorenzo Santolino P6 and P9 at the standings of the race

Today was a long and tough day at the Dakar 2025, featuring an 829 km route with 605 km of special stages and 224 km of liaison from Hail to Al Duwadimi. The Sherco Rally Factory team riders started at 5:30 AM and reached the finish line at 5:30 PM.

Lorenzo Santolino faced some difficulty warming up during the liaison but quickly found his rhythm at the start of the special stage. He joined Quintanilla at kilometer 90, riding alongside him for much of the course. Santolino finished 6th in today’s stage, just 3 minutes and 47 seconds behind the winner, and climbed to 9th in the provisional standings.

Rui Gonçalves placed 16th and now stands 13th in the provisional rankings.

💬 Lorenzo Santolino:
„Today was a very long day. At first, I took it easy because it’s hard to get into the rhythm after the rest stage. Around kilometer 90, I met up with @quintanilla102, and we rode together during the first part. In the second part, we kept swapping positions and maintaining the pace until the end.

I had some difficulties to find one waypoint, but later I managed to maintain a good rhythm.

For the first day back in action, it wasn’t bad at all. We keep moving forward!

A tough stage, but we’re staying strong. Let’s go for more tomorrow!“

💬 Rui Gonçalves:
„It was a long day, but I didn’t make any mistakes. My navigation was good, and I feel really confident on the bike.

I still feel pain in my left arm from the fall during the marathon stage, but yesterday’s rest day was much needed and helped me recover. I’m now 13th in the provisional standings.“
