Dakar 2025, prologue day
Lorenzo Santolino finishes the prologue stage of the 2025 Dakar Rally in 15th position, Rui Gonçalves, is 17th. The prologue was 79 km long, 50 km of liaison and 29 km of special.
Lorenzo was hindered as he rode several kilometers through a canyon behind another competitor, losing some time before he could overtake.
Lorenzo: “I’m quite happy with the navigation. There were many arrows, but I followed the roadbook and managed to anticipate some lines. I felt comfortable, but I caught up with Balossi around kilometer 15, and it was in a canyon with a lot of dust. I had to wait a bit to pass him until the terrain opened up. I lost some time, but the important thing is the pace and the feeling. I’m happy with the bike, the riding sensations, and my physical condition.”
Rui : «P17 today on a pretty fast prolog of 29km in sandy tracks with some technical parts. The feeling was good so we will continue to give our best everyday. Thanks everyone for the support!»
Unfortunately, the 2024 Rally2 winner, Harith Noah, suffered a crash and fractured his wrist. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Tomorrow, the race truly begins with the first stage around Bisha: 499 km in total, including 86 km of liaison and 413 km of special stage.
